Healthcare Reform, Michael Moore and a three-point strategy.

Michael Moore's answer to the problems facing US healthcare policy makers? Rip the system apart, give the federal government control, create a single-payer system that takes for-profit insurance companies out of the equation and regulate pharmaceutical companies "like utilities since they're just as important as electricity and water."

He's got friends. Hillary Clinton, John Edwards, and Barack Obama have all proposed radical overhauls of the health-care industry, with the goal of covering more Americans and lowering costs. California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger has also laid out a plan for remaking California's health system, in the wake of a similar move by Massachusetts.

The proposal from Obama (D-Ill.) came on May 29 in a speech at the University of Iowa, where he outlined a $50 billion-a-year universal health-care plan for all Americans that would increase taxes on the wealthy and require virtually all employers to offer insurance to workers or face tax penalties.

Every American deserves access to high quality health care. We believe the best ways to achieve this goal are to:

* Empower consumers to make more health care decisions;
* Promote consumer choice over big-government dictates; and
* Place the interests of consumers ahead of the interests of government bureaucrats and personal injury lawyers.

Right now, our access to health care is harmed by government bureaucracy and run-away litigation. Too many burdensome government regulations and mandates, distorted tax incentives and frivolous lawsuits increase the cost of our health care, force reputable health care professionals to raise their prices and limit access to affordable health insurance. Because of these problems, millions of Americans are deprived of access to the high-quality, innovative, timely and affordable health care we deserve.

By challenging big-government advocates and sidelining self-interested personal injury lawyers, we can restore control to everyday Americans.

about superiority of "free" healthcare:
I am originally from Soviet Union, and I would like to share just this one example.

Once my aunt was about to give birth and went to a hospital. During that time on Soviet TV they had soap operas every night at 9:00, and these were extremely popular. So, around 8:30 that night, the head nurse told my aunt, that if she will not start having contractions in 15 minutes, they (the nurses) will squeeze the baby out with a towel, so that they will not miss the soap opera on TV!!! My aunt became so scared, she started having contractions right then and there!

True story!
